National program
Land & Wildlife Conservation
Protecting land, restoring habitat and caring for wildlife over the long term — with the honest costs of stewardship funded before we commit.
Focus areas
What this program covers
Land protection
Acquiring land by purchase or gift, and holding it for permanent conservation rather than resale.
Habitat & corridors
Protecting habitat and the connections between it, so wildlife populations are not isolated.
Native restoration
Rebuilding native plant communities: grassland, woodland, wetland and pollinator habitat.
Invasive management
Reducing invasive species pressure so restoration work actually holds.
Ecological monitoring
Measuring what changes over time instead of assuming the work succeeded.
Easements & partners
Working with landowners, land trusts, universities and agencies where that protects more land than owning it ourselves.
Acquisition
How we evaluate land
Land is never desirable just because it is inexpensive. Protection is only real if we can care for the place afterwards.
Ecological importance
Habitat quality, rare or declining communities, and the species that depend on them.
Connectivity
Whether the land links existing protected areas or reduces fragmentation.
Water resources
Streams, springs, wetlands, floodplains and watershed position.
Soil condition
Erosion, compaction, contamination history and restoration potential.
Threat
How likely the land is to be lost or degraded if nobody acts.
True cost of care
Acquisition, restoration and the annual stewardship cost — funded before we commit, not after.
Legal clarity
Title, survey, appraisal, mineral and water rights, zoning, access and environmental review.
Responsible ownership
Whether we can genuinely care for the land long term, or whether a partner should hold it instead.
Doing Big Things is an organization in formation. We do not currently hold property, conservation easements, permits or agency agreements, and we will not describe any as existing until they do.
Projects
Program projects
No projects published yet
Projects appear here only once they genuinely exist and an administrator has published them. We would rather show nothing than describe work we have not done.
Protected land
Properties we care for
We do not currently hold any land
Doing Big Things is in formation and owns no property, easements or agency agreements. When land is protected, it will be listed here with a general location only — never exact coordinates of sensitive habitat.
